The main functions of the International Road Carriage Co-ordination Division:
- Consulting and providing information to governmental institutions, professional associations and transport companies concerning provisions set out by the EU road transport "acquis" and other legal acts regulating activities in the international road transport market;
- Collecting of the data on passenger and goods carriage and analyzing of the road transport market;
- Co-operation with the road transport related international organizations and participation at the Joint Committee meetings under the bilateral agreements on international road transport;
- issues single border crossing permits to non-commercial transportation;
- Issuing of international road transport permits to the Latvian carriers and dealing with the permit usage related issues;
- Issuing of other documents required for international road transport: ASOR and INTERBUS passenger waybills, permits for single border crossing, individual control books by 1 January 2005
